Final Rules and Regulations submission on 01.29.2026

The Board voted to revise the proposed Rule 4.3 that was submitted according to the Mississippi Administrative Procedures Act on September 30, 2025. The final rule was submitted to the Occupational Licensing Review Commission (OLRC), made up of the Governor, the Secretary of State, and the Attorney General November 5, 2025. The Executive Director and Board attorney met with the OLRC on December 12, 2025. The OLRC approved the final rule and issued resolution approving the Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors
• 30 Miss. Admin. Code, Pt. 2201, Chapter 4, Rule 4.3 – Requirements to Become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC): Proposed change to existing regulation to remove confusing language regarding supervision ratios on January 28, 2026.

Proposed Rules and Regulations

The Board voted to revise the Rules and Regulations and has submitted the proposed changes according to the Mississippi Administrative Procedures Act on September 30, 2025. The proposed changes are available for public comment until October 25, 2025.  After the public comment time, the Board will review the comments and make any necessary edits to the proposed changes before submitting the revised Rules and Regulations for review by the Occupational Licensing Review Commission (OLRC), made up of the Governor, the Secretary of State, and the Attorney General.

Rule 4.3: Requirements to Become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

To submit a public comment to the LPC Board on one of the revisions, interested persons may submit written comments to info@lpc.ms.gov, note in the subject line “Public Comment on Rules”.  In the email, include the Rule number you are commenting on and your comments.

Any personally identifiable information (e.g., name, address, phone number) included in the comment form or in an attachment may be publicly disclosed in a docket or on the Internet. By submitting a comment, you agree to the State’s privacy notice.
