Thank you to the 500+ licensees that joined the Board for the first 1-hour Lunch & Learn Webinar on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

The Board was thrilled to have CE Broker’s Deb Carter on the webinar to provide a detailed review of using CE Broker for CEH reporting. Her detailed explanation of the different account types offered, insight into features available within your account, and instructions on how to successfully, track, report, and find continuing education courses within CE Broker was very well received.

This Webinar is eligible for one (1) hour of Board approved Continuing Education Hours for those that participated in the Board’s Webinar for the entire session. The CEH will be reported in your CE Broker account by May 1. If you have not set up an account yet, it is associated with your license number and will be posted in your CE Broker once you have set it up.

MS Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors Invitation

A recording of the webinar will be posted on the Board Info / News page approximately one (1) week after the live presentation. CEH credit is only available by participating in the Live Webinar.

Proposed Rules and Regulations Revisions

The Board voted to revise the Rules and Regulations and has submitted the proposed changes according to the Mississippi Administrative Procedures Act on February 27, 2025. The proposed changes are available for public comment until March 30, 2025.  After the public comment time, the Board will review the comments and make any necessary edits to the proposed changes before submitting the revised Rules and Regulations for review by the Occupational Licensing Review Commission (OLRC), made up of the Governor, the Secretary of State, and the Attorney General.

To submit a public comment to the LPC Board on one of the revisions, interested persons may submit written comments to info@lpc.ms.gov, note in the subject line “Public Comment on Rules”.  In the email, include the Rule number you are commenting on and your comments.

Any personally identifiable information (e.g., name, address, phone number) included in the comment form or in an attachment may be publicly disclosed in a docket or on the Internet. By submitting a comment, you agree to the State’s privacy notice.

Rules and Regulations Revisions

The Board voted to revise the Rules and Regulations and submitted the proposed changes according to the Mississippi Administrative Procedures Act on March 25, 2022. The proposed changes were available for public comment until April 19, 2022.  After the public comment time, the Board reviewed the comments and made any necessary edits to the proposed changes before submitting the revised Rules and Regulations for review by the Occupational Licensing Review Commission (OLRC), made up of the Governor, the Secretary of State, and the Attorney General.

The Board met with the OLRC on August 17, 2022, to review and discuss the revisions. A resolution regarding the Commission’s recommended edits and approval of the Board’s rules was released on September 15, 2022.  The Board has filed the Rules and Regulations as final with the Secretary of State’s Office for inclusion in the Mississippi Administrative Code with effective date of January 1, 2023 (01/01/2023)

Rule 2.2.D. Periodically, this document, the Rules, Regulations and Application Guidelines for Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors, is updated and/or revised. The Applicant/ Licensee must comply with the most current version of this document, and it is the Applicant’s responsibility to ensure that he/she hast he most current

version of application documents accepted by the Board. Additionally, the Applicant/Licensee is responsible for all provisions listed in the most current Rules, Regulations, and Applications Guidelines.

The Board is diligently working to update policies and procedures for a smooth transition and implementation of these new Rules and Regulations. The website will be updated as that information becomes available. Email notifications will also be distributed to all Mississippi licensees.

How to Provide Telemental Health Services or Distance Professional Services in Mississippi

Comply with the Board’s current Rules and Regulations for providing counseling, supervision, and telemental health services, which can be found HERE.

Do I have to comply with the Board’s Rule 7.5. if I am not providing telemental health services?
No, you are not required to obtain the Board Certified-Telemental Health (BC-TMH) credential or complete professional training as outlined in Rule 7.5. if you are not or do not plan to provide distance professional services.


How do I submit verification of training or credential to the Board?

Submit verification of credential or of completion of professional training in TeleMental Health counseling to the Board by uploading a copy of the credential certificate OR completion of professional training certificate to your profile at the bottom right side of the General Registration tab, under Distance Professional Services. (DPS Upload Instructions)


Do I have to complete both options, a. BC-TMH credential and b. professional training, under 7.5.(3)?

No, complete either:
a. BC-TMH credential OR
b. Professional Training.


I am fully licensed LPC (or MS equivalent) in another state, and have a client who is moving to Mississippi, traveling to Mississippi for extended period, or lives in Mississippi and would like to begin receiving services while living in Mississippi while I am providing services from another state. How am I able to comply with Mississippi Requirements?

You must be licensed in the state of Mississippi in order to provide services to a client in Mississippi along with documenting the appropriate credential or training as outlined in the Rules and Regulations (link above).
